I’ve always had a strong vocabulary, and for as long as I can recall I’ve been a fairly confident writer; I’ve written two full-length novels (one of which was published), several dozen “short” (the word is subjective) stories, and hundreds of essays, articles, rants, blog posts, and miscellany. But whenever writing SONG LYRICS is involved, I’ve ALWAYS struggled. Always.
Poetry, too, to a point.
Anybody else understand my struggle?
I’ve been exercising my voice and practicing my singing (again, subjective) for several months now – and I’ve been practicing and honing my lyrical ability at the same time, and I’m pleased to note that I’m making pretty steady & noticeable headway.
I’ve finished lyrics for about two dozen songs (for both One-Winged Angel releases and Fellow Felon releases) whose instrumentals have been completed already, with another dozen in-progress. I’ve only had the time to get one solid vocal recording sesh – thus only one truly finished song. I may post it up soon.
Anyway. Apart from studio work, I’m finally getting around to fishing for bookings again. It’s been long enough (almost two years now) since I actively played anywhere. Time to get back at it.
