A Rambling Update

I’ve always had a strong vocabulary, and for as long as I can recall I’ve been a fairly confident writer; I’ve written two full-length novels (one of which was published), several dozen “short” (the word is subjective) stories, and hundreds of essays, articles, rants, blog posts, and miscellany. But whenever writing SONG LYRICS is involved, I’ve ALWAYS struggled. Always.

Poetry, too, to a point.

Anybody else understand my struggle?

I’ve been exercising my voice and practicing my singing (again, subjective) for several months now – and I’ve been practicing and honing my lyrical ability at the same time, and I’m pleased to note that I’m making pretty steady & noticeable headway.
I’ve finished lyrics for about two dozen songs (for both One-Winged Angel releases and Fellow Felon releases) whose instrumentals have been completed already, with another dozen in-progress. I’ve only had the time to get one solid vocal recording sesh – thus only one truly finished song. I may post it up soon.

Anyway. Apart from studio work, I’m finally getting around to fishing for bookings again. It’s been long enough (almost two years now) since I actively played anywhere. Time to get back at it.

To EP or not to EP…?

I’ve been wanting to put together a new EP for a while now – somewhere in the ballpark of a year or thereabouts. I’ve just been feeling “the itch”, and I’ve started, and restarted, and re-restarted work on the idea something like 6 times; but every time when I just start gaining momentum, I keep being greeted with some one kind of catastrophic clusterfuck or another in my personal life, causing everything else to be put on hold.

It was exactly those kinds of setbacks and frustrations that caused me to just walk away and take a hiatus for almost two years.

Now that I’m starting to get back into my rhythm again, though, I’ve decided to give it one more go and see if I can produce my third studio album.

I’m giving myself a lot of legroom on this, given all the issues I’ve had with this project in particular (and also accounting for the amount of energy I have to dedicate to Fellow Felon instead).
That said, my goal is to have 4-5 tracks produced, mixed, mastered & ready for consumption by December 7…at the very latest.
It’ll be released exclusively as a digital download ON December 7, and I’ve already decided to release it absolutely free, & just call it a “promo release”.

I’ve already got a good working idea of what I want to accomplish with this release, and have tentatively titled it the “Tornado Alley EP”.

Now the fun (and frustrating) part is all I’ve got left to conquer: actually GETTING IT DONE.

Wish me luck!

Transmission Commencing…

Heyguise! Thanks for tuning into my blog. I’m going to be using this space in as much of a relaxed way as possible; mostly I’ll be posting public updates about any projects I’m working on, like new music, or your dates, or whatnot… I’ll probably tell some stories from clubland, complain about the advances of technology, and have a rant or two about some technical aspects of music production – like frequency translation! Guh!

First update? After a year long hiatus away from all things music, I recently started a new project called “Fellow Felon“. It’s…complicated.
I plan on releasing a new EP, hopefully by Christmas. We’ll see.
That’s the brief update. More to follow.
